Meet Paul,

A young man with dark hair, a beard, and light skin, smiling and wearing a white button-up shirt, standing against a white brick wall.

Finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming. I hope this space gives you a sense of who I am and how we might work together.

Paul Viau
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

I bring over 15 years of experience supporting youth, adults, and families through complex, high-impact life experiences.

Psychotherapy was not a career path I had set out to pursue; it found me over time when I realized that genuine connection between people is the true catalyst for healing. In a world where we often feel increasingly disconnected, therapy offers a place to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with ourselves in a compassionate and meaningful way. Becoming a psychotherapist has not only allowed me to guide others through this process, but it has also been my own pathway to connecting with myself and the world around me in a deeply powerful way.

My work in the justice sector taught me firsthand that change rarely happens on the surface; it requires a safe space to look deeper. My professional background has been shaped by working at the intersection of mental health and complex social systems, with a focus on crisis intervention, emotional regulation, and self-discovery. Throughout my career, I have walked alongside individuals during some of the most challenging moments of their lives. These experiences taught me how to remain grounded, present, and emotionally attuned, even when sitting with pain, anger, grief, complex trauma, or deep uncertainty. I believe healing begins when we no longer feel the burden to carry everything alone.

My clinical approach is also informed by years of supporting teens navigating the child welfare and justice systems, as well as my lived experience as a former foster and adoptive parent. This journey profoundly deepened my understanding of attachment, trauma, and family disruption, alongside the immense courage it takes to rebuild trust, connection, and belonging.

Outside of the clinical space, I am a husband and father with a passion for travel and culture—especially discovering new places through the food I experience and learn to cook along the way.

Whether you are navigating overwhelming emotions, feeling stuck, struggling in relationships, experiencing recurring involvement with the justice system, or simply trying to better understand yourself, we will take the time to move through it together.

You do not need to have all the right words to begin—we’ll find them together.
